The day after Christmas, something unbelievable was caught on camera.

A man went to a Dunkin’ Donuts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, intending to abandon his dog there.

A camera outside the establishment caught the man letting the dog out of his car, and leaving his pet to roam around while he went inside for coffee. When he was inside, he asked the cashier whose dog it was, perhaps trying to make it seem like it wasn’t his dog, KRQE News 13 reported.

Once he had his coffee, he was caught on camera again, looking at the dog outside. He then left the area, leaving the dog all by herself.

For a while, she wandered right outside the restaurant, walking aimlessly with many customers noticing her.

Then, one of them observed there was a note attached to the animal.

The note attached to the dog said, “I’m free, I’m having babies,” suggesting that the pregnant dog was up for the taking.

That was the only thing the dog had on her; she was all by herself.

From the looks of it, the dog was still friendly enough to walk up to strangers outside the location. It’s good to see that a situation like that didn’t stress her out enough that she would stop acting nice to others.

And, thankfully, someone called the cops so that this dog could be taken to a safe place, rather than possibly running into nearby traffic, given the Dunkin’ Donuts was near a busy intersection.

The dog was taken to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society. She was evaluated, and they said she wasn’t hurt. Despite the circumstances of how she was picked up, the dog could not be any nicer to the staff.

The Humane Society named the dog Jackie.

“She actually participated in one of our playgroups today and did great,” the Society said about her in a Facebook post. “She loves people!”

One of the best qualities about dogs is that they always have love in them for someone, even if at one point they were treated badly. Jackie might’ve been frightened by the situation, but it didn’t stop her from interacting with those around her.

The Humane Society does not know yet whether or not she’s pregnant; the symptoms could also be a uterine infection. She will be monitored closely as the days go by.

And Jackie’s sweet nature means that if she is pregnant, she’s sure to have no problem showing love for her puppies.

The Society said in a Facebook post that not only does she “enjoy cuddles from our staff and human volunteers,” but she’ll be available to adopt sooner than later.

Hopefully, the next family that takes Jackie in will appreciate her loving nature, as it seems she gets along with anyone, whether it be fellow dogs or humans.

Thanks to the good people at DD who called the cops and the Humane Society employees, this dog will have another chance to love again. It’s always amazing when a dog is rescued from a difficult situation and can still find love for those around them.
