New York Millionaire Robert Durst to Face LA Hearing Over Murder of Best Friend
The son of a wealthy New York real estate mogul, Robert Durst, is set to appear for a hearing in Los Angeles on Monday, April 16, for the murder of his best friend, Susan Berman, in 2000, The Associated Press reports.
Durst was charged with Berman’s death in 2015.
Berman was shot execution-style in the back of her head. None of her valuables were taken and investigators say there was no evidence of forced entry to the home.
Durst flew from New York to California and back again a few days before her body was found on Dec. 24, 2000.
Shortly after she was found dead, Berman was set to have an interview with New York police about the 1982 disappearance of Durst’s first wife.
A close friend of both Durst and Berman, Nathan “Nick” Chavin, testified last year that Durst told him: “It was her or me, I had no choice,” according to AP.
