When pregnant dog was brought to shelter, no one anticipated her puppies to look like this

Any time an animal rescue takes in a new dog, it’s a gamble. You never know what a dog’s personality is going to be like until you’ve known them for a few days. When a dog comes to a shelter pregnant, it’s even more of a gamble.

Suddenly, there could be as many as 12 additional dogs living with you, each with personalities of their own. What’s more, you never know what the babies are going to look like until they’re born.

When Katie and John Black fostered a pregnant dog from Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue, they certainly didn’t expect her puppies to look like this!

Rosie the golden retriever mix was very far along in her pregnancy when she was discovered by the rescue, giving birth only five days after being taken in by her foster family in October last year.

Having not known the father, the Blacks expected half of the puppies to look different from their mother, yet they didn’t expect all four to come out white with big black spots.

The Blacks were bewildered! Katie joked that Rosie had given birth to cows.

Yet it seems like they weren’t the only ones confused. Rosie wasn’t sure quite what to make of the situation herself!

Redditors had a field day with the situation, posting all sorts of cute and funny comments after Katie shared a photo of Rosie and her pups.

Now with four additional dogs, the Blacks certainly had their hands full! Fortunately, they are rather experienced caretakers, having fostered over 20 dogs since 2009, according to Wide Open Pets.

The couple’s Instagram account hosts all sorts of adorable images and videos of the pups growing up together with their mom.

The pups—named Daisy, Betsy, Clarabelle, and Moo—along with their mom, are all up for adoption, with Clarabelle going to her forever home just before Christmas. Finding an adopter is sometimes tough but with over 90,000 people upvoting Katie’s Reddit post, it seems like each of these dogs will find a happy family soon enough.

Last photo of all four together. 😭❤️
