A meow is more than a hello or cry for hunger, now it a safety precaution.

There are multiple stories of how dogs have saved lives. They work with the police, they are considered a man’s best friend, and they are smart. Just like dogs, cats are superheroes too.

Let’s not leave our furry feline friends out.

Cats save lives too, just ask the McEvoy family.

One night, the family’s cat, Houdini started meowing more than usual. Peter McEvoy woke up at 1 a.m. from unusual behavior from the cat.

Confused at the cat’s strange behavior, McEvoy soon realized why the cat was not acting like himself.  Houdini was trying to warn the family that the house was on fire. McEvoy got the message, and saw the house was full of flames.

“The whole right side of the house was engulfed.”

“Parts of the house were falling on the cars,” the family’s neighbor Mark Salamack explained to CBS New York.

Mark Salamack, McEvoy’s neighbor helped them bring their children and dog over the fence, while he and his wife climbed over last.

“He got down on his hands and knees, so his wife could get on his back,” to climb over the fence.

The family got out of the fire safely, but the cat is nowhere to be found.

McEvoy explained that the family was asleep when the fire started, and if it were not for Houdini they may not have gotten out on time.
