NASA has released an animated video based on infrared images of Jupiter’s polar cyclones.

NASA’s Juno satellite aimed its Jovian Infrared Auroral Mapper to scan the heat signatures of the enormous cyclones which permanently rotate above and below the gas giant.

The animation uses white to indicate heat and darker colors to show increasing coldness. According to NASA, the temperatures within the storms range from about ten degrees above zero to 120 degrees below zero, Fahrenheit.
