Dad Films Sleeping Baby’s Precious Reaction As He Whispers ‘I Love You’

Dads everywhere, we salute you! When your babies are born, you have to run to catch up a little, right?

These adorable critters have just spent nine months becoming intimately connected to their moms while growing in the womb. So dads, potentially, have to work that extra bit harder to cement the bond when their babies are born.

My whole world

For some dads, it’s a breeze; after all, what baby wouldn’t want two loving, fun, devoted parents rather than just one? And when a baby reciprocates a doting dad’s love and affection, it’s positively precious. These are the moments that make all the trials and tribulations of parenting so completely worth it.

For new dad Nick Alberino, from Bedminster, Pennsylvania, falling in love with his new baby boy was the easiest job in the world. And he quickly discovered, to his delight, that the words “I love you” had a profound effect upon his son.

As his baby son Luca was sleeping, Nick filmed the tiny tot’s reaction to these three magic words and posted the heart-melting clip on YouTube. The clip is only 10 seconds long, but it has the power to win your heart like no other!

“Look who’s sleeping,” proud dad Nick begins. “Now I’m gonna tell him I love him,” he adds, “and he’s gonna smile.”

Don’t believe it? Keep watching! The besotted father leans down toward little Luca’s ears and whispers “I love you” to the sleeping babe. Instantly, Luca’s cheeks spread into the widest, happiest grin, and all while he’s completely asleep.

Subliminal dad messages for the win!

According to research from Parents.com, Luca could have been exhibiting what the experts call a “social smile.” Babies of Luca’s age start to show appreciation for their parents by grinning, and it’s beautiful. “At this stage, he wants to connect,” the site says.

At a few months of age, babies will start to respond to the faces they love and the sounds that their parents make. “Now there’s no question,” the parenting experts say. “You’re his favorite.”

Nick and his wife, Karissa, have since welcomed a second baby boy, making their family complete. They announced their imminent new arrival with a sweet photo of a grinning Luca on Facebook, captioned: “What can make our son smile like this? Telling him that he’s going to be a big brother in June!”

Messages of congratulation flooded in. But guess who was the most excited? Little Luca himself, of course.

What can make our son smile like this? Telling him that he’s going to be a big brother in June! Merry Christmas!

We wonder whether baby number two responded in the same way to Mom and Dad’s whispered messages of affection. We certainly hope so; Luca set the bar high!

All this goes to show that a parent doesn’t have to pull out all the stops to make their tiny tots happy. Sure, lavish gifts and trips to Disneyland are heaps of fun (and we’re not saying that kids don’t love them!), but sometimes these three special words spoken from the heart are all that’s needed.
