What would you do if people criticized you on social media for the way you looked? A woman in Ghana had the most amazing response when she was shamed for being overweight in her engagement photos, after which she had the last laugh by marrying the love of her life.
Bride-to-be Mzznaki Tetteh, a nurse, was fat-shamed by netizens online in early June 2016 when she posted engagement photos of herself and her fiance on Instagram.
One of the photos in which her fiance, Kojo Amoah, lifted her off the ground received harsh and insensitive comments, for some reason, from netizens about her size.
Trolls lambasted Tetteh’s career as a nurse and her size difference with Amoah.
One ruthlessly commented: “He just caught himself a 400 pounder right there.”
“How is that beautiful?” another remarked.

With cruel comments being hurled at her, Tetteh responded on Instagram: “Still confident … your rubbish comments ain’t ruining my happiness … thanks to all for the compliments and best wishes … am honored.”
Ignoring the negativity, she attended a bridal shower that her friends threw for her before happily walking down the aisle with Amoah on June 25, 2016.
After the wedding, Amoah uploaded a photo on Facebook showing himself and Tetteh seen posing happily. Fortunately, the newlyweds did not receive any more harsh comments.
"Your rubbish comments ain't ruining my happiness,"
Throughout the whole episode, while Tetteh was being shamed by netizens, Amoah remained supportive of her.
In an interview with Ghana Web, he said: “I normally post pictures of me and my girlfriend all the time and I wasn’t expecting this at all. I just posted it, we did a photo shoot and I thought it was nice so I posted it.”
“To me, I have always been a fan of plus size women and I am so proud of my woman and I don’t care about what anybody says out there.
“In every society there are people who will try to discourage you from things that you seek to do but I am not bothered at all. And I don’t regret posting those pictures on Facebook,” he said.
According to MailOnline, Tetteh paid tribute to her supportive husband on social media:
“I just can’t imagine what I will do if I didn’t have you to hold my hands and look into my eyes to tell me as yours forever,” she wrote. “Just wanna let u know that the flames of passion between us will never be extinguished.
“You are the reason why I smile and why our love thrives between miles.”
“I can BOLDLY say am the luckiest woman to have a HUSBAND like you and I want the whole world to know that you will forever be the man for me,” she said. “Am glad I got the dibs for you. For you are a rare species and probably the last of the world’s best husbands.”
She then added: “Baby, I love you more than yesterday but not as much as I will tomorrow and I can’t wait to walk down the aisle to say ‘I do’ and spend the rest of my life with you.”
