Brewer Science: 2018 Sensors Expo and Conference

Brewer Science presented its printed sensor technology at the 2018 Sensors Expo and Conference. The expo was held on June 26 to June 28 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. The Sensors Expo and Conference is the largest event dedicated to the sensor technology industry, allowing people from around the world to network and focus exclusively on sensors and sensor-integrated systems.

Brewer Science is a company dedicated to developing and manufacturing various materials necessary in the production of other semiconductors and microelectronic devices. The company’s focus is on creating printed sensors, which are sensors created through a lithography process.

“We make various printed sensors for the environmental and industrial monitoring systems,” explains Nick Skelton, digital marketing manager.

Brewer Science creates various sensors that include moisture, temperature, ion conductivity, and water-based sensors. Currently, the company is working with two primary platforms for its sensors.

“One is a water-based platform, where we’ve been sending out the sensors into wells in the area and rural areas to measure the water quality to see if it’s healthy for people to drink,” says Skelton.

The other platform the company works with is the industrial manufacturing sector. During the manufacturing process of various products, Brewer Science’s sensors can check for failures or problems in pumps and valves.

“We sell the systems customizable to, typically, third-party companies for them to integrate into their own industrial systems,” Skelton adds. Brewer Science also works closely with government agencies on various projects.

During the expo, Brewer Science showcased its drone system. The lightweight sensors can be easily connected to drones, making the drones ready to use and sent into the field right away.

Located in Missouri, Brewer Science was founded in 1981 with the goal of creating innovative materials and processes for controlling light during a production process known as photolithography. Over the years, the company has expanded its frontier to include 3D stacking of integrated circuits and printed electronics technology.
