An Alabama police officer was bitten by a retired K-9 officer, according to WHNT News 19.

Then it was reported that the K-9, named Titus, had bit a woman outside of her home in Florence, Alabama, on Nov. 11 after escaping from its enclosure.

“We take that extremely serious,” said Captain Mike Holt, according to WHNT. “It was investigated like anything else we investigate just to make sure we had all the facts.”

The station reported that Titus bit the officer Jan. 2.

“We did have an incident on the second of January,” Holt added. “One of our K9 officers was actually breaking up the water because it was so cold if you’ll remember, and Titus bit our handler in the arm.”
