While the performers on America’s Got Talent never cease to amaze, there are a few who are just talented; they break the internet with their amazing smiles and charm. The show has featured talent of all different ages, but few can claim to have stolen as many hearts as Heavenly Joy Jerkins.
When audiences and host Nick Cannon met this 5-year-old sensation, they couldn’t help but be charmed by her. “My talent is mostly singing… and I looove tap!” she said in her interview. Cannon asked her mom, Joy Enriquez, a successful singer charting hits in 2000–2001 and who recorded with legends such as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, if she was nervous about sending her little girl up on the big stage.
“Oh no, man, she lights up when she sings on stage.” Cannon seems surprised that such a small kid could be confident in front of such a big audience. “Oh yeah, that’s her home,” Enriquez responded, laughing at her little girl’s fearlessness. “I am sooo excited,” she said before taking the stage, the determination to succeed written all over her face.
As Cannon escorted her up on stage, it was clear that this little girl didn’t need any help. Where some kids would have been full of nerves, she bantered with judge Howard Stern like it was nothing at all. He pointed out that if “you win this thing, you get a million dollars.” Before he could even ask her what she would do with it, “Heav,” as her aunt calls her, fired back with a response that wowed the audience.
“Well, if I get a million dollars, I don’t want to keep them, I want to give them [away] all over the world, because some people don’t have any clothes. I’ll give some clothes to them.” Her dad, multiple Grammy award-winning producer Rodney Jerkins, watching from backstage, said with pride, “we’ve been raising her right!”
Then it was Heavenly’s turn to sing and dance. And sing she did, knocking the audience and judges over with a spirited rendition of “In Summer,” the song sung by Olaf the Snowman in the megahit musical Frozen. But Heavenly didn’t just quietly sing her way through the tune—she belted it out.
She tapped her way perfectly through the scat, “Dah dah, da doo, uh bah bah bah bah bah boo,” winning applause for her deft dancing. And at the end of the song, she held on to the high notes incredibly well, sounding like the artists her dad has produced and her mom has sung backing vocals for!
I had so much fun singing with my mommy Joy Enriquez on TBN Trinity Broadcasting Network last night! 💙 #PraiseTheLord #TBN
By the end of the song, she had the audiences on their feet and the judges smiling from ear to ear. Howard Stern couldn’t restrain his enthusiasm: “kid, you’re going places, I’m telling you!” Stern even compared Heavenly to the greatest child song-and-dance performer of all time, Shirley Temple. “I think Shirley Temple is living somewhere inside of you!” Always quick to respond, Heavenly said, “well, not Shirley Temple, Jesus!”
Judge Heidi Klum told the tiny contestant that she had done “such a fantastic job singing and dancing.” Klum predicted that “America’s going to fall in love with you,” a comment that seems to be born out by the astounding 35 million views that her YouTube performance has received.

Since her incredible performance on AGT, Heavenly has gone to sing with her mom Joy Enriquez on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, Steve Harvey’s Little Big Shots, and even a guest appearance singing at the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.
With music royalty in her blood, there’s no doubt that this tiny powerhouse will one day be gracing the top of the Gospel charts!
