Alicia Tebbetts Capello and her husband had some big news to deliver! They had been waiting for a while to let their two kids on a secret, and when they finally decided to blow the lid on it, they got creative.
Huh? A gift? What’s this for?
Alicia had held the news that she was pregnant from her kids until she hit the nine-week mark. Mom and Dad were super excited to wrap up t-shirts for their two kids—the gifts for seemingly no reason.
Lexi, their 13-year-old daughter, and Nicky, their 5-year-old son, were given the t-shirts out of the blue. No birthday, no holiday, no “thanks for this or that.” Just because, or so they thought.
Creative parenting is GOOD parenting!
“We gave each of the kids a little gift bag to open and their reactions were priceless!” Alicia shared with Love What Matters.
When they opened them, Lexi’s had the word “Biggest” printed on hers, and the matching shirt for Nicky had “Middlest” printed on his.
Lexi is obviously a bright kid, so it didn’t take long for her to figure out what was going on.
She figured it out the second she saw her brother’s “Middlest” shirt—no need to even look at the onesie that had “Littlest” printed on it!
A heartwarming reaction by big sister.
Of course, any good parent would want to capture this all of this on video and post it to Facebook, and they did!
Lexi’s reaction is so genuinely heartwarming, as she becomes overwhelmed with tears of joy at the thought of adding a new baby to the family.
You’re joking, right?
Nicky, on the other hand, is a little slower to grasp the reality of what’s going on. He thinks it’s a joke.
Nope! Nicky, my man, you are about to lose that spot of “littlest” in less than a year, but it’s been a good run, eh?
The parents were completely satisfied with having pulled off the fun surprise. “Our daughter sobbed in excitement and our son was in disbelief until he finally proclaimed ‘YAY!'” said Alicia. “I couldn’t have asked for a better reaction.”
Mission accomplished…stay tuned!
On her Facebook post along with the video, Alicia wrote: “Parenting is HARD. It is long nights, fevers, and skinned knees. It is sewing dance costumes at 11 p.m., math problems you don’t understand, and tears . . . so many tears. It is by far the hardest yet most rewarding thing I have ever done and I can’t wait to do it all over again. We are so blessed.”
Nice job, mom. Nailed it!

"I was 17 and still in High School when our daughter was born. I wasn’t sure how I would do it but I was determined to be the best mom I could be. My now husband stepped in when she was very young and has been a wonderful Daddy to her ever since. She is 13 now and is a beautiful dancer with a kind heart. When she was 9, her spunky, sweet, and hilarious little brother was born. It felt like the first time all over again but our family felt complete. He’s 5 now and being a working mom with both kids involved in sports and a very busy life, I have always maintained that I was done having babies. 6 weeks ago we found out that I am pregnant. Once the initial shock wore off all we could think about was telling the kids. Last week, my husband picked up our daughter from a 2 week-long trip to visit family. When they came home, we gave each of the kids a little gift bag to open and their reactions were priceless! Our daughter sobbed in excitement and our son was in disbelief until he finally proclaimed YAY! I couldn’t have asked for a better reaction.Parenting is HARD.
