Kids say the darndest things, don’t they? But when 3-year-old Virginia resident Jaxon Lopez yelled, ‘help,’ no one was laughing.
Earlier this year, Jaxon was outside playing at his grandmother’s house. But it was time to go home and Kelsea Spouse, his mother, was packing the boy’s things into the family car. She was about to strap Jaxon into his car seat when she realized he was missing his coat. So, she returned to the house and let little Jaxon, with his unplugged minion headphones still on, play in the front yard for a few minutes.
Jaxon was out in the yard playing when his mother heard him yelling, ‘help, help!’
When she came out, though, she heard two words that would have made most parents heart’s sink—Jaxon yelled, ‘help, help!’
Spouse stopped dead in her tracks. Something seemed wrong, but Jaxon, in full view of his mother, seemed unharmed. Spouse ran towards her son, but that was when Jaxon made off towards the neighbor’s yard.
“That is when I really realized what was going on,” Spouse told WTKR3.
Jaxon was not in any danger. Instead, he had heard the neighbor calling for aid.
When she made it over to the neighbor’s garage Spouse was shocked to see a woman lying on the ground in a puddle of her own blood. The woman, as it turned out, had been sick all week and tried to call for help earlier in the day. She hobbled down her stairs, fell and banged her head in the kitchen and then managed to crawl to the garage where she laid in critical condition.
Jaxon was okay, but the woman he found was not
Spouse needed to stay with the woman, so she told Jaxon to run and get his grandmother. Jaxon dutifully obliged. He ran back to his grandmother’s house and pounded on the door.
“He said ‘Ganny neighbor help,’ and I thought, what is he talking about?” Danette Lopez, Jaxon’s grandmother, told WTKR3.
Lopez did not realize the seriousness of the situation and initially thought Jaxon was just playing. But Jaxon had no time for games.
“He grabs my wrist and he’s pulling me to the door,” Lopez told WTKR3.
She followed Jaxon back to the neighbor’s house and discovered the scene for herself. Shocked, she called 911 and ambulances and paramedics arrived on the scene. They picked up the woman and brought her to a local hospital where she made a full recovery.
The woman made a full recovery thanks to Jaxon’s timely discovery—he even had one more surprise in store for her.
It was lucky that Jaxon discovered her, because, if not, she could have died.
“I just want him to know what he did was great and I want to keep instilling that, those are the things we should be teaching our kids,” Spouse told WTKR3.
Spouse was understandably proud of her son, and that next day decided to buy him a reward for his heroism. But little Jaxon only wanted one thing.
“I got neighbor flowers,” Jaxon told WTKR3.
The sweet little 3-year-old became a little hero in his neighborhood.
“I’m a super-hero,” Jaxon said according to WTKR3.
Sorry, Jaxon, SUPER-hero.
