The island of Saint Martin is known for its turquoise blue waters, beautiful beaches, and being the smallest island that is divided between two nations. While the overall feel on the island is a relaxing one, the Dutch side of the island, St. Maarten, is home to many thrilling activities, like nightlife and of course the famous Maho Beach.
Maho Beach sits within feet of the end of the runway at St. Maarten’s Princess Julianna International Airport. It’s one of a few places where thrill seekers can get an up close look at planes taking off and landing at the Caribbean airport.
Every day planes take off and land within feet from beachgoers heads. Some take offs, like an Insel Air MD-83, are more thrilling than others. The same goes for landings.
This particular landing looked like it could have given a few people on the beach a buzzcut.
Hang onto your hat and watch the video below of the extremely low landing.
Since the beach is famous for watching airplanes, many people visit Maho Beach with their camera. This means several angles of this low landing were caught on camera. This angle is very similar to the above video and this video, which shows the plane in slow motion, gives a unique perspective.
