Student Goes From Homeless to Graduating College With Honors
A Michigan student who bounced between schools after becoming homeless has accomplished the unthinkable.
Byron Brooks, 23, is set to graduate from college after suffering from living without a home for over a year.
Brooks said he was unable to live with his mother because she gave him an ultimatum.
“My mother didn’t want me to go to college,” he told Fox 2. “She gave me an ultimatum of working at a factory or going to college. I chose college.”
Now Brooks will graduate from Henry Ford College in Dearborn and is planning to attend a full university following the two-year program.
Brooks is majoring in music industry management and has dreams of one day opening an artist development center for at-risk youth who aspire to careers within mainstream music.
