The body of a missing woman who disappeared Monday has been found in Galveston County, Texas, on Tuesday, authorities said.
At around 7 a.m. Tuesday, a passerby discovered a body that had washed ashore some 3 miles where she disappeared.
Brandy Mosley, 33, went missing as she was watching a boy playing in the water. The child was knocked over by a wave and he lost his footing, Click2Houston.com reported. Mosley went into the water and grabbed him and helped other children out of the water.
But after that, she was gone and never resurfaced, the station reported.
Officials said that a tattoo on the recovered body matched the one belonging to Mosley.
The coroner’s office hasn’t confirmed the official identity as of yet, Click2Houston said.
Deputies believe that Mosley lived in the East Texas area.
It’s unclear if the boy was her nephew or her son, the Palestine Herald reported.
Sheriff’s Maj Douglas Hudson said she pulled the child from the water and handed him over to a relative, but moments late, she vanished, the Houston Chronicle reported.
“It’s just sad, tragic. I hope they find her to give the family a little bit of peace,” local beachgoer Ann Lawrence told 12 News Now.
“They just don’t understand, when they come in from out of town how bad this water, you cannot fight this water,” Lawrence said. “A lot of people are concerned, a lot of people would love to help but there’s nothing you can do except pray and hope for the best hope they find her,” Lawrence added.
“We surf fish this every day,” Tim Isaacs, a local, told ABC13. “We know when it’s good and when it’s dangerous.”
Mosley was the owner of B’s Hive of Therapy Day Spa and Salon in Palestine, Texas.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew along with USCG Air Station Houston and a boat crew from USCG Station Galveston were deployed to search the waters off Crystal Beach, 12 News Now reported.
