A South Florida family found a visitor swimming around in the pool at their home early on Monday, Feb. 5, an 8-foot alligator.

The Boca Raton Police Services Department said in a Facebook post that a local in Boca Raton woke up and found the animal there.

Matt Fino told WSVN that it was “an eye-opener.”

“I saw the gator, and I couldn’t even,” Janet Rosa told WSVN. “I was in total shock.”

A Florida wildlife official arrived on the scene and removed it.

“There is absolutely no doubt that every morning when I open that door, I’ll be staring at the pool first,” Fino said.
