While the background for many marriage proposals is either a luxurious vacation spot, the location of a couple’s first date, or even a family home, the place Alex Bartholomew picked to propose to his girlfriend was a place where he often vacations, the great plains of Texas. And it was a whirlwind of a proposal.

That’s because Bartholmew proposed to his girlfriend, Britney Fox, in front of a tornado.

He didn’t exactly have to twister arm, she said yes!

According to TODAY, Bartholomew purchased the ring in March, but was waiting for the perfect moment to pop the question. He wanted to combine the two loves of his life, storm chasing and Fox, and one day while on his annual “chase-cation,” Bartholomew tricked Fox into thinking they were out hunting for a crazy storm.

And while they were, he also had something else up his sleeve…

When the couple got out of their car to observe the tornado in the distance, Fox didn’t think anything of it when their friend, Jason Cooley, also got out of the car with his camera. She assumed he was just going to take some pictures of the storm, but when she turned around and saw her boyfriend down on one knee she knew what was happening.

“… tears well up in my eyes, and I forget that there was even a tornado there.”

We know we speak for several people when we say we can’t wait to see the engagement photos, and we can’t even imagine what their venue will be like for the wedding. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Take a look at some video from the blustery marriage proposal!
