Sometimes fate moves in mysterious ways. In this lighthearted story, Mother Nature played a part in helping a Utah teen find a homecoming date.
It all happened after Grayson Beck, a senior at Westlake High School in Saratoga Springs, Utah, left a striking yellow homecoming proposal poster outside the house of his potential date.
The making of posters is a tradition practiced by students in this Utah town.
Grayson’s poster read, “I finally got the balls to ask you to Hoco.”
As fate would have it, Grayson’s potential date didn’t catch sight of the poster, as the wind mysteriously blew it several houses away, landing in front of the Pyfer family’s house.
“My son found it and brought it in,” mom De Anne Pyfer told FOX 13. “I was like, ‘Well, we better figure out who it belongs to.’”
De Anne took to Facebook to find the poster’s owner. Soon, the post reached Grayson, who was embarrassed that his poster landed at a stranger’s house. To make matters worse, the girl whom he intended the poster for already had a date.
We found this in the street in front of my daughter’s car. She is new to the high school but she doesn’t know anyone. Is…
Grayson contemplated staying home for homecoming but soon realized that Mother Nature ended up deciding a course for him.
He learned that De Anne’s daughter, Bria, didn’t have a date for the homecoming dance either. Her family recently moved to the town and she didn’t know many people yet. Coincidentally, both of them are in the same grade at Westlake High as well.
“We moved here about three months ago,” Bria said. “I was new to the school and, my senior year, so I didn’t really know anyone.”
Grayson went to the Pyfer’s house, this time with a new poster in hand. The poster read: “The winds of fate blew me to you. What a great icebreaker. Homecoming?”
Bria decided to accept his invitation and crafted a special sign to show Grayson at his house.
Her poster read, “Hey I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s my number (and candy), I won’t say maybe… Yes!”
And so, with a twist of fate, Grayson and Bria were each other’s dates at Westlake High School’s homecoming dance on Sept. 15.
What a wonderful turn of events!
