Chef John DeLucie is partnering with Cafeteria Group to reopen Empire Diner. The iconic diner opened in 1976 and closed in December 2015.
“I’ve always been drawn to nostalgia. I love historic spaces that can be revitalized,” said DeLucie in a press release.
While the exterior remains the same, the inside has been revamped, with a more casual, booth-lined space and bar, a more traditional dining room, and an open kitchen between the two. The upstairs dining room can be used for private events.
Chef de cuisine Justin Neubeck offers dishes such as crispy artichokes with house aioli, braised beef short rib with horseradish gremolata, and sourdough pretzel fried chicken with chili mustard sauce. Cocktails highlight seasonal takes on classics.
Open daily for dinner. Brunch and lunch to follow, with the launch of an 85-seat outdoor space.
