Dogs and postal workers have been sworn enemies since the beginning of time.
We’re all familiar with the story. Every day while we’re at work, our pets and mailmen face off. Dogs just seem naturally programmed to hate them, these intruders on their property, who just keep coming back day after day.
Aaron Hernandez of Houston, Texas owns five big dogs, so he might have assumed they gave the mailman a scare every morning as he pulled up to the gate.
But while he was checking his security footage, he saw something unexpected.
The mailman and the dogs were BFFs.
Not only did the dogs not bark at the mailman, they excitedly embraced him—and in return, he took some time from his route to pet each dog.
“Even when we aren’t home to show our dogs love, we can always depend on the mailman to give it to them,” Hernadez wrote.
The dogs seem to be waiting for the mailman’s arrival.
They all perked up once they spotted him coming down their driveway.
He proceeded to give them all some love.
It’s an unexpected, stereotype-defying friendship. But it really is a win-win: the mailman gets a moment away from his long day of work, and the dogs get some nice attention while their owner is away.
“I think it was really caring and loving that he took time out of his busy day to do that,” Hernandez told The Dodo.
