Christmas is a time to spend with family and friends. Unfortunately for some of us that’s not always possible for a variety of reasons. For Mariah Clark and her husband, Terrance Clark, it looked as though the couple would have to spend the holiday apart for the first time, as he was deployed in Afghanistan.
However, thanks to a Christmas miracle and a little planning on Terrance’s part, the two will be able to spend the holidays together.
Mariah and Terrance get to spend Christmas together after he surprised by coming home.
Christmas came early for Mariah Clark! Her husband, Terrance Clark, a soldier in the U.S. Army came home early to…
For the past six months Terrance has been serving in Afghanistan while Mariah has been at home in North Carolina. During this time the couple hasn’t been able to talk to each other very often. They’ve only been able to speak with each other once.
“It’s kind of hard to deal with honestly,” Terrance told WFMY. “You spend a lot of time together and then you’re just gone.”
Terrance began planning for his surprise homecoming months earlier.
Although the distance apart has been hard on them both, Mariah has tried to keep a positive attitude by carrying around a large cutout of her husband’s face. She has been taking photos with it everywhere she goes, and sends them to her husband so it’s not like he’s completely missing out on everything.
While viewing a Christmas lights display at a local farm she took out her husband’s cardboard cutout and took a photo with it. Little did she know what the photographer caught in the background of her photo.
Terrance photobombed his wife’s picture.
“I wanted to do something for her that would be a big deal to her,” he said. “Something that would be really memorable.”
And memorable it was. Mariah wasn’t expecting her husband to come home until next month, so his actions were completely unexpected.
“It’s one of the best feelings in the world,” Mariah told WFMY.
The only plans the couple have for the holidays are to spend time together.
Terrance has two weeks at home, and the Clarks plan to spend every moment together. Although Mariah joked with ABC News saying that now she has some last minute shopping to do before Christmas, but after that they have no other plans but to enjoy each other’s company.
