Stevoni Wells Doyle has been a one-woman fostering force for dogs. She has quite literally fostered hundreds of dogs, keeping them and caring for them until they could be placed to a forever home.
In her own words, she summarized the reason why she has made such a beautiful and selfless commitment and gone to such great lengths to care for unwanted and needy pups.
“We are their voice and we need to protect them,” she said.
Stevoni has a big heart, there is no doubt. The miracle behind this specific rescue, however, is a heartwarming gesture of love and confidence that was reciprocated by a pit bull she not only rescued but helped as she gave birth to her litter of puppies when they arrived.
Grayce, the dog she rescued, came from a neglected environment. Her previous home was neither safe nor one that would offer even the basics of every dog’s needs.
Stevoni explained, “She needed a safe environment to have her pups.” Yes, Grayce was pregnant at the time of her rescue.
When Grayce gave birth, Stevoni was right by her side giving her support, love, and encouragement throughout the ordeal. What a scary time it must have been for Grayce, who was not used to having that kind of love at her side in any circumstances, much less during the birth of her eleven new pit bull puppies!
This is where the story really takes a turn into one of the purest acts of love one could ever hope to witness or be a part of. As Stevoni sat against the wall resting and keeping Grayce and her new puppies under a watchful eye, something incredible happened.
One by one, Grayce gently picked up each puppy with her mouth, walked over to Stevoni, and set them in the lap of her foster mom. Every single puppy was delivered to this hero dog rescuer. Can you imagine what that must have felt like?
Stevoni explained it this way, “I think she feels unsure still as a new mom, and she needed love and reassurance from someone she loves and trusts.” Love and reassurance are exactly what Stevoni is all about, and evidently even in their brief time together, Grayce knew that. It’s something that never happened to Stevoni before, and she was very touched by the gesture.
“I was honored that she chose me to trust with her pups and herself,” Stevoni said, “I’m still overwhelmed with her love.”

Stevoni is a part of a group out of Utah called the “Rescue Rovers.” Although they have no physical facility, they rescue dogs and place them in foster homes until they can be placed permanently.
