When Miro the cat’s owners opened their front door, they were surprised to see they had a guest on their front porch.
Miro was very excited about this possible new friend, as you can see in the video below. The only problem was, the guest did not seem the least bit interested in making new friends.
At first Miro cautiously approached the fawn. Then the kitten got a little more brave and decided to investigate the deer more closely.
Eventually, Miro grew tired of trying to get the baby deer to play. The cat settled for lounging around with its new friend instead.
While Miro the kitten just wanted to play with the fawn, it’s always a good idea to leave wild animals alone, even if you think they have been abandoned by their mother.
The Wildlife Center of Virginia states that even though fawns may look like they’ve been abandoned, their mothers are actually protecting them by leaving them alone. This way predators aren’t drawn to their babies. Typically the mothers will come back to retrieve their baby around dusk.
If you find a fawn in a location that is unsafe or if you find one that appears to be injured, contact your local wildlife center.
