This coffee shop owner, who found it difficult dealing with rude customers all day, finally decided to do something about it for the good of his employees, himself, and indeed all those working the trenches in the service industry across the world. He wrote the most amazing and humorous message on his sign, and it seems like it worked!
If you’ve ever worked in the service industry, at some point, you’ve probably had a rude customer lose their patience or get frustrated, who may have treated you, the service person, rudely or unfairly.
One coffee shop owner, Austin Simms, in Roanoke, Virginia, decided to do something to curtail rudeness shown by patrons. “I decided because I need to solve all the injustices of the world to start charging more for people who didn’t take the time to say hello and connect and realize we’re all people behind the counter,” Simms told WDBJ.
To teach his rude customers a lesson, he put up a sign outside his shop with a new pricing policy in effect:
In just one day, the sign went viral online, and it even ended up in the newspaper across the pond, all the way in England! However, what’s more incredible is that, according to Simms, the strategy seems to be working!
