Swimmers were surprised to be greeted by a pod of dolphins in New Zealand’s North Island.

Amanda Davis, a golfer, was taking a dip in Matauri Bay, when she saw some fins emerge from under the surface of the water on Thursday, Feb. 22.

This was a NZ first… took Jack to Matauri Bay and when I jumped in was greeted by a pod of dolphins!” she wrote on Instagram.

Joe Hickey was also at Northland’s Matauri Bay on Thursday according to New Zealand website

“What was amazing was how inquisitive dolphins are. They were swimming with us, then there were people at the other end of the beach and they swam over to them, then they went to check out a boat,” he said.

He added, “It was like they were putting on a show—they were jumping in the air, waving their tails, playing games. It was incredible.”
