Sanders Criticizes American Media for ‘Elevating’ North Korea and Its Regime
At the White House press briefing on March 9, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders took aim at American media. She criticized media that praised Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un during the Winter Olympics in February.
“I’m glad that you guys are acknowledging a lot of the problems of North Korea,” she said.
“Because just a couple of weeks ago, a lot of members in the press were actually elevating North Korea and some of the members of the regime, and comparing them to people in the United States and in this administration,” she said.
In February, the New York Times published an article headlined, “Kim Jong-un’s Sister Turns on the Charm, Taking Pence’s Spotlight,” while CNN published an article headlined, “Kim Jong Un’s sister is stealing the show at the Winter Olympics.”
Kim Yo Jong serves as the director of North Korea’s Department of Propaganda and Agitation, an agency common in communist dictatorships.
