Georgia Teen Gets Accepted into 39 Colleges, Awarded $1.6 Million in Scholarships

A Georgia teen demonstrates how a budding young student can excel when she’s able to focus on her goals.  Just ask 17-year-old Jordan Nixon from Douglas County High School.

The high school senior says she doesn’t “study all the time,” but she does study. In other words, she has balance and knows how to manage her time. She’s also devoted herself pertinaciously to applying for entrance into dozens of colleges and universities and for numerous scholarships.

And Nixon’s efforts have paid off. Already, she’s received 39 acceptance letters—the highest number of acceptances for any student that the school’s ever had—as well as $1.6 million in scholarship awards. Incredibly, she’s still waiting on more decision letters that have yet to arrive in her mailbox.

The devoted student with a 3.5 GPA is also very humble, her cheerleading coach says. It’s neither fame nor attention that motivates her.

“I wanted to challenge myself,” Nixon told Fox 5. “That was the most important thing for me, just to show others anything is possible and that anyone can accomplish it too.”

Nixon also participates in many extracurricular activities at Douglas County. She’s the cheerleader co-captain for the Tigers at her high school, she’s a member of the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy, and she participates in the Distributive Education Clubs of America.

Currently, Nixon is still narrowing her choices for which school to attend after she graduates. But she’s planning on studying international business. She’s considering schools that are geared toward that, also ones that are geared toward “diversity,” she says.

Nixon is very independent, well-rounded, and has “great time-management skills,” say her parents Angelia and Arthur Nixon to CBS. “We’re so happy for her because she does put in a lot of due diligence into applying for these schools.”

Thank you to CollegeforSure for making Jordan’s college dreams and aspirations a reality.
