A young child told his mother he wanted to look just like his best friend and asked for the same haircut. Then the mom shared a photo of these “twins” on social media and, no doubt, the valuable message that this photo had conveyed got loads of praises from netizens.
Lydia Stith Rosebush, from Louisville, shared that her son Jax’s “wild hair” needed some nice trimming. “I told him that he needed a haircut this weekend,” Rosebush wrote in her Facebook post on Feb. 24, 2017, which soon went viral and was later reposted to Love What Matters’s Facebook page on Feb. 27, 2017.
“He said that he wanted his head shaved really short so he could look like his friend Reddy,” the mom wrote.
This morning Jax and I were discussing his wild hair. I told him that he needed a haircut this weekend. He said that…
Being both funny and mischievous, Jax and Reddy Weldon naturally became friends and were drawn to each other in schools, Rosebush revealed to People.
With a new haircut like his BFF, the then-5-year-old Jax’s reason was to trick his preschool teacher, Ms. April, so that “his teacher wouldn’t be able to tell them apart” and “thought it would be so hilarious to confuse his teacher with the same haircut.”
Rosebush shared her son’s new haircut photo and wrote, “Here’s a picture of Jax and Reddy from their Christmas program. I’m sure you all see the resemblance.”
“If this isn’t proof that hate and prejudice is something that is taught I don’t know what is. The only difference Jax sees in the two of them is their hair,” Rosebush wrote.

Rosebush’s Facebook post soon went massively viral, garnering more than 225,000 likes, over 106,000 shares, and some 15,000 comments.
“I just laughed,” she told CTVNews.ca. “Jax is really funny and he just says funny things and he has no problem letting you know his opinion on things.”
“This is crazy. It’s been shared all over the world. It’s complete insanity,” she said when she noticed how quickly her post had been shared.

Many internet users had praised Rosebush for her parenting skill.
One netizen commented, “Love love love this! I agree that hate is taught. My son and I were in the car one day and he said “look Mama, it’s your twin!! Look look!” There was a black woman with my same shape, hair style and glasses. That was all he saw. At that moment I felt like I was doing something right.”
“I think a lot of people, especially today, could learn from the innocence of children,” Rosebush said. “Like, of course they see that they’re different. They’re five. They’re not stupid. They see each other, but they don’t care. It doesn’t matter.”
The proud mom added, in an interview with People: “I think people just need a feel good story in such a divided country. I’m glad that my 5-year-old can show the world that there’s so much more to people other than color.”
HUGE thank you to Wahl Grooming for joining forces with Jax and Reddy to plot more fun adventures. Both boys will always be looking good because they each got a new set of clippers.
Jax’s wish of getting the same hairdo as Reddy came true days later with news cameras witnessing the haircut. His mother said that he loved his new hairstyle. “He talks about his haircut all the time. He has no idea why people care so much about his haircut,” Rosebush said.
When Jax arrived in school the next day, Reddy had already told their classmates he was Jax in an attempt to confuse their teacher, and their plan worked! “It’s been all over the news here so she thought it was super cute and she played along with them trying to switch places,” Rosebush said.
“If all adults could see the world through the eyes of a child how much richer life would be,” commented one netizen.
The beautiful friendship between Jax and Reddy certainly warms our hearts! Do you think the two friends look just like twins?
