A 12-year-old boy has been arrested for attempted robbery of a gas station in Stockton, California.

The boy skated up to the ARCO gas station on West Benjamin Holt Drive on Monday, Jan. 22, afternoon. He pulled out a gun and demanded cash from the clerk, the Stockton Police Department stated. But the clerk didn’t cooperate and called for another employee, who was in the back of the business. Perhaps getting nervous, the boy exited the business and skated away.

“It’s ridiculous I couldn’t believe it,” Arco employee James Ratto told WJBK. “It’s just very sad to see someone this young try to do something like this.”

Police stated a 12-year-old suspect was arrested on Thursday at Sierra Middle School thanks to several tips to Stockton Crime Stoppers.
