Letters to Santa Claus are a time-honored tradition, and they’re always a blast to read—with requests ranging from simple (a ball) to a bit costly (a new video game system) to impractical (a pony) to downright impossible (a trip to space).

Yet one little girl asked for something that didn’t fit in any of these categories, and it brought the internet to tears!

8-year-old Nadia Prado, already has a long history of giving back to the community. When she was five, she donated her hair to Locks of Love. Over the past few years, she’s given away her school supplies to classmates who didn’t have them. This year, she donated all her money to her school’s charity fundraiser. Her mother, Diana Vasquez Prado, describes her as having “the best heart ever.”

But recently, she flipped the traditional script on her letter to Santa Claus, and Diana was so shocked, she simply had to share it on Facebook.

"My 8-year-old daughter left this note for our Elf, Twinkle, to take to Santa. When I found it, my heart melted, and I…

The letter (which was sent to Santa via Nadia’s Elf on the Shelf, Twinkle) started like this:

“Dear Santa Claus,

Since you’ve been giving us presents every year this year I ask for nothing. I have toys, a home, family and love.”

This alone is incredibly mature but the rest of her letter is even better:

“So this year I want to make you something. Tell me what you want this year and I’ll make it.

Love,

Nadia”

How about that??? Nadia doesn’t want to receive anything from the jolly man in red—she’d rather give him something to thank him for his efforts.

But what do you get for a guy who has everything? According to a letter sent back to her via Twinkle: almond milk, cookies, and a drawing of a Christmas tree are enough.

“She loves to draw!” Diana told Scary Mommy.

Nadia’s story has gained over 42,000 likes on Facebook and over 4,600 shares. Her parents didn’t expect the post to go viral, but they are quite grateful.

“We didn’t expect such a beautiful and positive response to our daughter’s letter,” Diana explained. “We cried together at what amazing things people had to say.”

Although Nadia has inspired thousands of people, she herself is no stranger to a tough situation. Last December, her family adopted two older children, so she’s spent some time adjusting to that change. Yet, despite that, Nadia has remained positive and sweet.

“It never occurred to her that she was sharing Mom and Dad with strangers or to be jealous,” said Diana. “She is an amazing child!”

Nadia may have said in her letter that she didn’t want any presents, but her parents believe that she deserves them. They’ve asked her what she wants—but she still isn’t entirely sure. Yet, whatever it is, it’s sure to be a gift sent with love, as that’s what Nadia and her siblings have been raised on.
