You have to watch until the end

Jason Asselin loves pranking his family. His wife, his kids, his in-laws—it’s all fair game. But one autumnal prank he planned against his wife nearly went horribly wrong.

The Michigan dad is a Youtuber who loves covering local events, but in October 2016 he decided he would surprise his wife and film it.

It was a really bad move.

Being the good husband he was, he went and raked the fallen, dried leaves into a big, neat pile on their driveway. Then he decided to make the terrible husband move of trying to use that to scare his wife.

“My wife is fearful of driving through piles of leaves and hitting children,” Asselin explained. This suggested she would be cautious—perhaps slowing down or driving around this obstructing leaf-pile in the middle of the driveway.

“So I’m going to hide in a pile of leaves,” he said.

And then when his wife drove up to it, he was going to jump out and scare the living daylights out of her.

What could possibly go wrong?

As it happened, less than a minute after Asselin got in position beneath the leaves, his phone rang.

“Really?” he asked with exasperation, before jumping out and brushing leaves off and running to get the phone.

Well, in all honesty, that phone call might have saved his life.

About 10 seconds after the phone rang, his wife came home…

…and proceeded to barrel through the pile of leaves without slowing down even a smidge.

The sound she made, smashing the car through the leaves, is likely one Asselin will not easily forget.

Having seen the events through the window, Asselin rushed back out onto the porch, yelling “Are you kidding me?!”

He later uploaded the video onto his YouTube channel along with a piece of advice: “Sometimes the best decision is NOT to try scaring your wife…”

“Had it not been for that phone call, I don’t know what would have happened! Don’t play in leaf piles kids, or this might happen!”

We’re all really glad it didn’t.
