If you’ve ever watched “Family Feud,” you know how intense some contestants can get. For those who have never seen the daytime game show, it’s not uncommon for contestants to jump around the stage or scream with excitement.
However, as host Steve Harvey recounted, there was one person who stood out to him, and it wasn’t because of his strange or humorous answers.
Steve Harvey recalled one of his most unforgettable moments on “Family Feud.”
During an episode, Harvey noticed the captain of one of the two teams “sweating profusely.” It was so bad that the man’s shirt had to be changed mid-show.
Like the host does with many contestants, he tried joking with the guy to get him to calm down. Nothing seemed to work. The man continued to sweat, which lead Harvey to believe something was wrong with him.
“He had played three days, and they didn’t win the money, and he was just a wreck,” Harvey recalled.
Finally, after three days of playing the game, the man and his team won $20,000. Of course most people who win a significant amount of money are overjoyed. But, according to Harvey, the man was so emotional that he fell to his knees and wouldn’t stop crying.
A man and his family won $20,000, and he couldn’t stop crying.
After the show, Harvey talked to the man about the very emotional win, and that’s when the captain of the winning team broke the news to Harvey.
“Steve, I’m terminally ill,” were the words that came out of the man’s mouth.
The man told Harvey he had three months to live, and due to his illness he wasn’t able to purchase insurance, so he was really hoping he could win so the money could go to his family.
The man was terminally ill and needed the money for his family.
Harvey was so moved by the man’s story that he immediately said he’d give the man’s family another $25,000 of his own money.
The audience was incredibly touched and inspired by Harvey’s story, and gave him a huge round of applause.
