Head butting is perfectly normal behavior for sheep, although it seems dangerous. It helps them keep in shape for the breeding seasons, but it also demonstrates hierarchy in the flocks. In fact, sheep themselves are probably so normalized to the concept of head butting, that they might start teaching it to members of other species.
