For new mothers, there’s nothing like that first bonding moment when you hold your baby in your arms after giving birth.
But for one woman, the moment was extra special—something no one had ever seen before.
In April 2017, Brenda Coêlho de Souza, an administrative assistant from Brazil, went to Santa Monica Hospital to give birth via Caesarean section.
It was a baby girl: Ágata Ribeiro Coêlho, born happy and healthy.
But when the newborn was placed into her mother’s arms, she did something that left everyone in awe:
The baby reached over and hugged her mother’s face!
Just minutes after the birth, they were already having some mother-daughter bonding time.
“It was an incredible moment when my daughter hugged me for the first time,” the new mother told StoryTrender.
It was an adorable sight—and apparently, not a common one.
The hospital staff had never seen anything like it.
“The medical team were great and were all really surprised that she acted this way,” she added. “They couldn’t believe how affectionate she was with me.”
It wasn’t just cuddling, either. At one point, Ágata seemed to kiss her adoring mother’s nose.
The heartwarming video has since gone viral and racked up over 2 million views on YouTube. It’s a beautiful moment, and proof of how immediate the bond between mothers and their newborns can be.
