In 2013, Sierra Bradway lost her father, Rod, an officer in the Indianapolis Metro Police Department. Rod had been killed in the line of duty, leaving his teen daughter heartbroken at the many milestones he would miss throughout her life.
Knowing that he would have loved to have been there to send her off to prom, she decided that she would take her photos for the big night at his grave.
What she didn’t realize, though, was how the police community in the area would respond to her hopes and make sure she felt loved by everyone who had been a part of her father’s law enforcement family.
Spearheaded by the mother of her date, a police officer herself, the neighboring police communities in the Indiana area sent as many officers as they could spare to the Crown Hill Cemetery to surprise Bradway.
On her way there, the young girl only expected a photographer to show up, there alone to help capture the touching photos.
Instead, she got out of the car to an absolutely overwhelming reception; she wasn’t going to be able to take the picture with her father himself, but she had an entire cop family at her side when the camera flashed instead.
Overwhelmed, Sierra had a huge, teary smile on her face at the gesture. Knowing how tightly knit the law enforcement community is, though, this is exactly what should be expected of these heroes in a situation like this.
