Mr. Grierson explained that he experiences music through vibration, “as a deaf person, I listen through vibration. All the sounds, the violins, the orchestra, really resonant to a deaf person.”
He said, “I would definitely recommend to a deaf person to come and see [Shen Yun] because the vibrations take you to another element.”
Mr. Grierson was amazed by how well the dance and music were in sync. “To feel the vibration and watch the actual performance, they marry so well together.”
He added, “When you hear the crescendos of the music and the build-up, you can really feel the intensity of it, and it marries so well with the performance.”
“Especially as a deaf person, to be able to watch it visually and interpret what you’re seeing, as well as the choreography and the actions and the facial expressions ... and really bring it together.” Mr. Grierson said, “[Although I] could not hear the performance, I really, really enjoyed it!”
