HIGH WYCOMBE, England—Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage at Wycombe Swan theatre in High Wycombe on Feb. 27–28.
Consultant Shelly Bellwood remarked at Shen Yun’s special effects, “The screen behind, the way they jumped into the background, it was so different to any other ballet that I’ve seen. It’s fantastic.”
“It feels very ancient and cultural. And just the amount going on, on the stage, it’s just like an assault on the senses—in a good way,” company owner Matt Osborne said.
“We’re just overwhelmed by how amazing it is,” business owner Sonia Anderson added.
“In a way, there’s a lot of courage and it’s quite a surprise for me. So not only is it a beautiful show but it’s got a great message behind it,” psychotherapist Mary Strugar said.
“I think that’s what the world needs right now. It needs everybody to look internally at what they’re doing and what their contribution is and make some change. And I think that you’re doing your part to bring that about, which is a very good thing.”
“Wow, I was very blessed. I was very blessed,” business director Yentee McCoy said. “I think it is a very strong message and it adds to the meaning of the show. There is a strong message to human beings, a global message really, and this is what we need today—peace, kindness, and gentleness and care and love. It’s amazing.”
“Please keep doing what you’re doing because you’re beyond a spectacle. And in this day and age, I think, just keep expressing yourself and being free and doing what you love doing because they obviously love doing it,” said Michael Mariner, an engineer.
“The energy just stayed high the whole way. And I think the audience stayed with the performers the whole way. It was pretty amazing,” director Sarah Warby said.
“It gives you a little glimpse into a culture that you wouldn’t otherwise know about. That’s taken me out of my own life today, and for those couple of hours, I was taken somewhere else and that was a good place to be. Worth every penny,” financial advisor Zoe Mills said.
Strugar was moved to tears by the performance.
“I would just say thank you and probably thank you for a lifetime ... I’m actually quite emotional,” she said. “A lifetime of dedication.”
