“At the same time, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the outstanding artists, the organizers, and the staff who made this performance a success, and I would like to greet the many audience members who have come to enjoy the show,” Mr. Hernández López said.
Shen Yun, based in New York, is on a mission to present “China before communism” and to revive people’s connection to 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and culture.
“I would like to offer a round of warm applause to Shen Yun’s dancers, musicians, artistic director, organizers, and volunteers. Without your hard work and dedication, this precious cultural tradition could not be preserved and presented. I sincerely wish this performance every success and hope it will be truly spectacular! With my deepest respect,” Mr. Hernández López said.
‘Shen Yun Is Like Elixir for the Soul’
On the evening of May 10, 2026, Mexican Congressman José Luis Sánchez González attended the sixth performance by the Shen Yun Touring Company at the Santander Performing Arts Center at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. (NTD)
“That enchanting beauty, joy, a unique sense of happiness, and inner peace—that is precisely what matters most,” said Mexican Congressman José Luis Sánchez González.
He described the profound emotions he felt while watching Shen Yun, noting that the performance felt like a refreshing elixir for the soul, reminding him that spiritual pursuits are far more important than material things.
Shen Yun’s presentation of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture broadened his horizons.
“Chinese (traditional) culture and art are breathtaking. Their dance, traditions, history, culture, and their connection to the divine—I found it all wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything was magnificent,” Mr. Sánchez González said.
He believes that Shen Yun’s artists are “truly top-tier professionals,” and he was deeply captivated by the traditional Chinese culture and values they presented.
“Setting aside the regime or the government, what is more important is the ability, strength, creativity, and wisdom of the Chinese people, which have earned widespread respect and recognition. Of course, their culture is also impressive and dazzling,” Mr. Sánchez González said.
Founded in New York in 2006, Shen Yun was established by elite artists who fled persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. Their mission is to return to the world’s stage the glory and beauty of pre-communist China and the country’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture.
“Everything was extraordinary. The Chinese artists were outstanding—truly captivating. They possess such rich creativity, imagination, and a spirit of innovation. They are dreamers, aspiring toward heaven. It was truly remarkable,” Mr. Sánchez González said.
The performance conveyed traditional Chinese culture and values—such as generosity, kindness, and resilience—through numerous folk legends, mythological tales, and excerpts from classic literature.
“These are values I identify with. Although I, as a human being, still have many limitations and live under a capitalist system that instills negative values, I strive to put these into practice. ... I believe these values, expressed in Christian terms, are kindness, unity, love, service to others, mutual aid, and universal love. I wholeheartedly embrace these principles and values,” Mr. Sánchez González said.
