Shen Yun Performing Arts returned to Toronto, Canada, on June 27, after six performances scheduled earlier this year were canceled due to hoax bomb threats linked to the Chinese regime. Following the foreign interference disruptions, the shows were rescheduled to the delight of local patrons.

“This is my fifth time coming, and I’m always amazed by the beautiful costumes, the dancing, and all the acrobats. It’s just wonderful to see. It amazes me every single time. Such a pleasure to be here,” Anna Roberts, a Canadian Member of Parliament said.

“I was here for the first one, and then they canceled the second one. This should not happen in Canada. It has returned. Thank goodness. Yes, thank goodness. That’s a good sign. That means that we’re doing something right.”

“I love the message of the fact that we can’t let the day to day, the pop culture take over our lives. We need to focus on the bigger picture, things like forbearance, like compassion, and like kindness, right? They really should guide our ways,” Philip Lawrence, a Canadian Member of Parliament, said.

“The spiritual aspect of the dance allows us to really think about what’s happening in the world today, and hopefully peace will come sooner than later,” Ms. Roberts said.

Based in New York, Shen Yun has been seeking to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from “China before communism,” through classical Chinese dance and music.

Ms. Roberts was struck by the soprano’s performance. “She was amazing. And the pianist, amazing—absolutely an amazing performance. It’s amazing to see how wonderful and talented they are.

“I’m Italian, as you know, and I love listening to that opera type of music,” she said. “So her soprano just accelerated, you could hear it throughout the whole room. Everybody applauded. They were so amazed, it was wonderful.”

Mr. Lawrence said, “It’s spectacular, really. It’s gorgeous watching the new and the old come together. You’re seeing the classical, beautiful Chinese culture come to life in front of you. In addition to the animation, it’s beautiful, it’s just absolutely fabulous.”

“I want to say to them that I am very, very impressed with their performance, all of them. It takes a lot of people to do a performance like this. This is unbelievable,” Ms. Roberts said.

Shen Yun’s 2026 global tour has officially concluded, and will return next season with an entirely new program.
