Shen Yun Performing Arts kicked off a nine day show in Nantes, France, with performances on Feb. 17, 20, and 21. Audiences from the historic French city were deeply impressed by the company’s beauty and artistry.

Charles Oger, a French lawyer, was particularly moved by the experience. “It’s fabulous, absolutely fabulous. In the first part, you get drawn in, and in the second part, you’re completely immersed—the intensity keeps growing. It’s truly fabulous, so moving. It’s a very beautiful show,” he said. “The technical skills are incredible. The landscapes are fabulous, the set designs are extraordinary, everything is beautiful. Honestly, it’s a journey, it’s magical. Bravo, bravo.”

Isabelle Davy, a digital training specialist with a background in classical dance, expressed her admiration for the dancers’ technical abilities. “The level is incredibly high. I trained in classical dance when I was younger, so I have several years of experience. And I can truly appreciate the technical skills of this performance, which is absolutely fantastic,” Mrs. Davy said.

Henri Davy, a former IT company executive, also appreciated the precision and grace of the performers. “What stands out is the beauty, the elegance of the movements, the grace of the characters, the entire ensemble, and the choreography. I find it sublime, it’s magnificent! Magnificent! I think it’s truly outstanding,” he said.

Shen Yun takes audiences on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese civilization from “China before communism.” Each performance highlights traditional values such as benevolence, justice, and faith, which audience members enjoyed.

David Marquigny, a regional sales manager, appreciated both the first and second part of the performance. “The first part is very impressive, full of rhythm. The first artistic section is full of bursts of movement, vibrant colors, and a lot of poetry. The interesting part comes in the second section, which is historical, depicting the repression in China and the pressure the communist party placed on the people after World War II,” Mr. Marquigny said.

Romain Gommard, a judicial police officer, commented on the breadth of the historical narrative presented in the show. “One doesn’t fully realize it, but 5,000 years of history condensed into a single performance is truly impressive,” he said.

Mrs. Davy also reflected on the performance’s spiritual and emotional depth, describing it as both soothing and moving. “You can sense this divine dimension. It’s very soothing, ultimately. There were even moments when I got goosebumps from certain scenes. It’s truly moving,” she said.

Mr. Marquigny appreciated the emotional depth conveyed in the performance, noting its emphasis on inner strength and serenity. “What stands out is the serenity and depth it conveys. The focus is more on substance than form. It’s really about inner intensity, poetry, and what’s happening deep within the human being. And that, in the end, can bring the world a bit more peace, more kindness, and a greater sense of personal and collective well-being,” he said.

Erika Gommard, a travel agent, found resonance in the performance’s themes of resilience. “What I really appreciated was the concept of persevering through tough times when things seem difficult. And the belief that by enduring, we might eventually receive something better. I thought those were very beautiful values,” she said.

Mr. Davy concluded his thoughts by strongly encouraging others to see the performance. “It’s hard to find the right words to express how beautiful it is. And honestly, I would insist that everyone come and see it because it’s truly magnificent. Honestly, it’s magnificent. I’m very, very happy. Very happy.”

Shen Yun is now performing in Montpellier, France, with shows scheduled from March 1–9.
