Shen Yun Performing Arts raised the curtain to a sold-out performance in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain, on the evening of Feb. 25. Audience members expressed their appreciation for the seamless integration between the music, dance, and tradition.

Manuel Lorente, a composer, said, “I think it’s amazing. The colors seem to reach directly to the soul—it’s something very pure.

“I would recommend it to anyone,” he said. “I loved it. To musicians, to dancers, to anyone who appreciates art a bit, they will like it. It’s impressive.”

Clara Restrepo, an acupuncturist, said, “It really touches you, it reaches you. You feel the sounds, the colors, their movements. It’s something that resonates with you. Perfect.”

“I am amazed,” actor and director Ángel Borge Cervelló said. “Above all, the special effects are fabulous. And then the dance group has a unity in everything. And I liked the soprano; she has a beautiful voice.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional culture from “China before communism.”

Ms. Restrepo said, “I’m very connected to Chinese tradition, especially the traditional part of Chinese medicine. I think it’s wonderful that there are people preserving that tradition, which is being lost there. So we need to support them.”

“I thought they were things that are true, that have happened, and that they believe in higher beings and all these things, which is logical. And it’s something very, very good,” Mr. Cervelló said. “I thought it was very good, and it connects very well with the story being told. Everything connects very well.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun has been touring the world since 2006, bringing the magic of classical Chinese dance and music to life on stage.

“Everything was perfect for me. The unity of the dancers, how they move at the same time, how they position themselves. They walk and stop at the exact spot. It’s marvelous. And then the soloists, what can I tell you? They are masters,” Mr. Cervelló said. “I would tell the director to keep going forward. It’s the best thing I’ve seen, not in years, in my life. This is beautiful. Everything, the total harmony of the entire show, is marvelous.”

Shen Yun will be performing in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain, until March 1, before continuing to Bilbao, Spain on March 3.
