Shen Yun Performing Arts gave two sold-out performances in Rome, Italy on February 16th and 17th. All 13,000 tickets for the Rome shows were sold out three months in advance, and the company’s entire Italy tour, totaling 64,000 tickets, also sold out well ahead of schedule. Audience members were impressed by the skill and artistry of the dancers.

Daniele Vita, a singer, actor, and TV host, said that “understanding the true history of China is very important. Being able to learn about such beautiful traditional Chinese culture enriches us as Italians, as Europeans, and even as people around the world.

“It connects us in a certain way and allows cultures to meet and blend. That is what moves people most about Shen Yun,” he said.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional culture from “China before communism” through classical Chinese dance and music. However, the performance is banned in China for its raising awareness about human rights abuses in modern China.

“We discovered that Shen Yun cannot be performed in China, which is hard to imagine, isn’t it? Such a magnificent performance, carrying ancient traditional Chinese culture, yet it cannot be staged in its own homeland. For us Italians, and especially for Europeans, this is unexpected and a tremendous shock,” Mr. Vita said.

Nela Lucic, an actress, said, “The performance inspired me deeply. That sense of lightness, the lightness of life itself filled me with admiration. The Shen Yun dancers are as light as feathers, agile, and graceful, with movements that are beautiful and truly captivating. I felt profoundly inspired, and I will remember it in my heart.”

Umberto Vita, a singer and voice actor, said, “Shen Yun deeply inspired me. There is so much to absorb and learn from it. For us artists, the inspiration it brings is truly eye-opening because it shows us what perfect art really means. I use the word ‘perfect’ because Shen Yun truly deserves it—it is perfect. The artists genuinely manifest a sense of divinity in their art.”

Ms. Lucic said, “I felt immense joy because I had long hoped to see Shen Yun. What surprised me is that the program is different every year. I did not know that before. The performance is astonishing and immerses you completely in traditional Chinese culture. It is an incredibly precious experience. The depth of the program makes you want to learn more and explore further.”

Gioia Speranza, an art teacher, said, “A well-known phrase came to mind, that ‘beauty will save the world.’ I saw beauty in every part of the show, a tender beauty, a beauty that makes you leave with a happier heart.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun simultaneously travels the world with eight different companies, bringing an all-new performance each year, with brand-new dances, a live orchestra, and its state-of-the-art animated backdrops.

Giuliana Di Dio, a singer and actress, said, “I think they are flawless. I cannot find a better word to describe them. Every dancer was precise and perfectly in sync. Tonight brought me emotions beyond words. I have never seen such an extraordinary performance, it was so beautiful.”

“The orchestra created an incredible emotion. It really touched the soul. It’s an incredible and unique thing,” Mr. Umberto Vita added. “[The erhu soloist] was very good. The absolute perfection of a musical instrument is really something incredible.”

“Shen Yun artists, my fellow artists, I sincerely thank you for the emotion you have brought me. I feel truly blessed to have seen Shen Yun artists perform live and to fully appreciate your beauty and talent. As an artist, this has been a spiritual cleansing for me. I am truly grateful to Shen Yun artists. Thank you. I cannot thank you enough,” Mr. Daniele Vita said.

Shen Yun will be returning to Rome, Italy, with performances from March 17–19.
