ATLANTA—Entrepreneur Tim Lee was stunned by the beauty of Shen Yun Performing Arts when he attended the New York-based company’s evening performance at the recommendation of his wife, who had seen the show last year.

Shen Yun is amazing,” Mr. Lee exclaimed. “During the whole performance I was visualizing, imagining some of the things that I can apply to my own personal life, some of the things that I can contribute to this amazing world and society, and how I can be a part of making a difference.”

Shen Yun was founded in 2006 by elite Chinese artists who had fled the persecution of the communist party.

For 5,000 years, China’s civilization flourished under the shared belief that the divine will bless those who uphold traditional moral values. Tragically, within just a few decades of the communist party’s violent takeover, these beliefs were erased and replaced with atheism.

The artists’ mission is to return to the world’s stage the glory and beauty of China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture. The Jan. 27 performance marked the company’s first of eight shows at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
Mr. Lee was deeply moved by the beauty of the production, particularly the artists’ depiction of heavenly realms, divine beings, and the idea that when people’s hearts are pure, the Creator of the universe will descend to help them in times of need.

I was touched by “how graceful the performances were—the sceneries, the temples, the nature, the heavenly clouds, and so on and so forth,” he shared.

“Our lives, the world, the universe doesn’t exist for no reason. There’s a divine Creator. The divine creator made us, created this world, made us who we are. So, we need to embrace the creator. We need to be able to give back, to be a part of the creation that he’s put in front of us.”

The message he is taking home from the evening is to “get up and be productive.”

“We fight our fight, we go through the traffic, and we occupy ourselves with so many things that might not be relevant. So, take a step back, and think about that divine … so that we can go towards it, balance our lives a little bit more,” Mr. Lee said.

“In life, we have to have a balance. [Shen Yun] performed with balance—the music, the movements, the visual effect. … It reminds us to create a balance within our lives.”

He also noted that being able to maintain that balance requires unwavering faith in the divine. “You have to put faith as a part of that because people try to use logic to resolve—to solve their problems,” he said.

“You cannot solve all of your problems with logic. You have to have faith. That’s the higher power that you always can depend on to carry you through the most difficult times.”

Shen Yun’s beauty further inspired Mr. Lee to take action for the benefit of the community.

“The sceneries, the grace of the performance, the power, the energy that is put into each of the performers—it made me feel like I need to do something, and I want to create that environment where people can come and enlighten themselves. [Shen Yun] inspired me,” he said.

“In my mind, I’m visualizing—a place, somewhere I can invest and make that into something that people can enjoy … the wonderful nature that the Creator provides for us to enjoy.”
