“I love it. It’s the first time I’ve gone, and I love the costuming, especially all the wings, the sleeves, and how they use them,” said Veronica Wargo, a professional skating coach who has earned medals for skating at the national and international level.
Ms. Wargo was one of many audience members who watched Shen Yun at the Symphony Hall in Phoenix.
Ryan Alkema, a financial consultant and entrepreneur, appreciated the significance of the words “Shen Yun,” which means “the beauty of divine beings dancing.”
“I already felt it as I watched the dancers, but it just gave greater light and significance as I’m watching the dancers,” Mr. Alkema said.
Based in New York, Shen Yun aims to revive authentic traditional Chinese culture from “China before communism.”
“I think it speaks to the journey that each of us have within ourselves and within our environment,” Mr. Alkema said.
Ms. Wargo said, “The way they can move together and form their lines and their circles, [it’s] very flowy and beautiful.”
“If you'd like to go on a journey through China, come see the show,” she said.
