LAS VEGAS—Stavros Anthony, Nevada Lieutenant Governor, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts on March 5.
“Congratulations to the production people, the back room people, the stage people, and all the artists, and dancers and singers, they are some of the best in the world. and I’m really proud to have them here in Las Vegas, Nevada,” Mr. Anthony said.
“The Chinese tradition has been around for 5,000 years, and it’s absolutely beautiful and wonderful. And to have the Communist Party come in and destroy it is really a tragedy,” Mr. Anthony said.
“There’s people over there that want to continue these traditions from thousands of years ago. The Chinese government won’t let them do that. And that is absolutely a tragedy. So maybe one day [Shen Yun] will [go] back for the entire Chinese people. But right now, I’m just glad that we get to enjoy this here in Las Vegas,” Mr. Anthony said.
Shen Yun’s website states, “China was once known as The Land of the Divine. This reflected a belief that its glorious culture was brought down from above.”
Mr. Anthony saw this divinely inspired culture in the performance.
“It was very uplifting. It just reminds you that it’s God that created the world, God that gave people their rights and liberties, and we need to be reminded of that. And I think everybody I see around here really enjoyed the show.”
“It’s uplifting,” said Mr. Anthony, who agreed with the text sung by the tenor. “It was really God behind everything, and that’s really a nice thing to hear.”
Mr. Anthony remarked on the beauty of “The message, the culture, the spirituality. And 20 years it’s been coming to Las Vegas. And we want it to come back every single year.
“You need to take your time to come out and see this show. It’s one of the best shows I’ve ever seen,” he added.
