Theatergoer: Shen Yun Evokes Pride in Chinese Culture

March 27, 2017

“There is so much of that beauty and history that goes through all of these different eras [of Chinese history], and [I] love the gracefulness of the Chinese culture. … I appreciate how talented everyone is here.”

“[The music] evokes [feelings of] being far away and being in Asia because they have some of the traditional music. The timing is wonderful, and the artistry is fabulous.”

“The young women are probably some of the most beautiful young women I have ever seen. They are all gorgeous and they are flawless too. And they are just so graceful.”

“It evokes the pride in the culture, especially to go back through the history … to celebrate some of the [traditional Chinese] versus more of the [folk and ethnic] culture. It is so nice to honor each. … I haven’t seen anything like it.”

“(In response to the fact that Shen Yun cannot perform in China) It’s disturbing. … It should be shown. … There is an oppression of artistry [in China].

“We are lucky that it (Shen Yun) is shown outside [China], and that we do have the ability to enjoy it and appreciate another culture. I think it’s important.”
