SAN LORENZO de EL ESCORIAL, Spain—In the afternoon of March 1, Shen Yun Performing Arts gave another performance to a full house at the Teatro Auditorio San Lorenzo de El Escorial. Beatriz Gutiérrez Pavón, a finance executive, thought the show was “delightful, elegant, exquisite, and beautiful.”

Ms. Gutiérrez said that she felt tremendous peace in her mind while watching the performance. “I found the peace that is conveyed to the audience very beautiful,” she said. “It conveys kindness, peace, tranquility, elegance, a lot of things that I found very beautiful.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts aims to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through classical Chinese dance and music, presenting to audiences worldwide the beauty of China before communism.

Ms. Gutiérrez said she couldn’t help but admire the hard work and attention to detail exhibited by the Shen Yun artists. She said, “I think there’s tremendous artistic work, spectacular physical work, and yes, the details of the movements. I think it’s very beautiful, really.”

Speaking about the dance drama that depicts the modern-day story of courage and belief under persecution in China, Ms. Gutiérrez said, “I had no idea about what they have told us, about [Falun Dafa]. It’s great that the rest of the world is being made aware of something that is happening right now in China, which is wiping out the entire history and heritage of the Chinese people. And I think it’s also a very good idea to make the rest of us aware of what is happening.”

Ms. Gutiérrez would like to encourage others to watch the show. “The magic of the performances, the beauty of what these artists do,” she said, “I think anyone who hasn’t seen it and doesn’t know what it’s like is invited to come and see it because it will really catch their attention.”
