The digital sets, interacting with the dancers, contribute to this immersive experience. “It feels like you’ve been transported to another world,” she added.
“We’re really drawn in by all the scenes and the colors—it’s truly very intense,” Mr. Bouillet said.
‘I Am Filled with Joy’
For Jean-Paul Ventura, a fluid and energy engineer, the performance was also a cultural discovery he was eager to experience.“It was a glimpse of China that one rarely has the opportunity to experience elsewhere,” Mr. Ventura said.
He emphasized the overall harmony of Shen Yun, in which “the synchronization of the performers, the music, and the story” came together to form a “wonderful” whole.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bouillet spoke of how Shen Yun portrays the relationship between humanity and the divine. “From the very beginning of the performance […] you can see this connection with the divine,” he said.
Mr. Ventura also described an atmosphere of togetherness regarding Shen Yun. “People […] are all united around this show,” he said.
The performance also gave him a sense of spiritual elevation. A “fluidity […] the finesse, […] the lightness,” said Mr. Ventura, adding that he experienced “a feeling that lifts the spirit.”
“It feels like they’re levitating, doesn’t it?” he adds. “It’s a truly amazing feeling.”
“This show is truly breathtaking,” he added.
Mr. Bouillet said that the artists convey a universal message of kindness and humanity. “You can feel […] a great deal of kindness and […] warmth,” he said. “All the artists are cheerful and smiling.”
Mrs. Bouillet described faces “full of joy and emotion” that help transport the audience “to another world.”
After the performance, Mr. Ventura said the audience leaves the venue feeling a sense of calm. “A sense of fulfillment, […] inner peace,” he said.
In today’s often turbulent world, many, such as Mrs. Bouillet, see it as a precious respite. “We need this emotion, […] this spirituality,” she said.
Mr. Bouillet said that Shen Yun can bring “a little serenity, a little art, and a little joy of life” to the audience.
Mr. Ventura echoed a similar sentiment.
“The story revolves a lot around spirituality. As a result, you feel good watching the show,” he said. “I’m filled with joy.”
