MEXICO CITY, Mexico—Following a successful opening performance on the evening of May 2, Shen Yun Performing Arts presented its second performance at Mexico’s National Auditorium (Auditorio Nacional).
Among those in attendance was former Mexican senator and human rights attorney René Bolio Halloran, who came with his wife and daughters. Deeply impressed by the performance, Mr. Bolio Halloran said he “received peace—peace of mind and of my soul—by listening, by seeing these beautiful dances, and by hearing the message.”
“Chinese aesthetics are universally beautiful,” he said. “The music and the message transcend every attempt to stop them.”
Mr. Bolio Halloran also spoke highly of the production’s staging and its integration of traditional elements with modern technology. “The interaction between the backdrop and the stage is wonderful. It feels like when the past meets the present and shows the future.”
Mr. Bolio Halloran described the evening event as a joyful family outing, explaining that his whole family thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
Reflecting on the deeper meaning conveyed on stage, Mr. Bolio Halloran said it speaks to the purpose of human life. “We are here with a mission, and one of those missions is to transcend. You can transcend by being a good person and doing good.”
“Our purpose on this planet is to do good,” he continued. “These good things are for others—for human beings—so that we can have a community and live in peace and freedom. That is our goal. But we face many obstacles, both now and throughout history. It is not easy.”
He added that despite present challenges, the pursuit of goodness remains essential. “In many parts of the world today, it is not easy. But we have to make the effort to bring peace and all the good things—not only for ourselves, but for every part of the world and for every human being.”
Summarizing the message of the performance, Mr. Bolio Halloran said, “Be a good person, and goodness will be rewarded.”
In his view, the performance also highlights an important aspect of human nature. “The human being is transcendent. They do not like that, because it is outside their control. They cannot control the human soul.”
He went on to stress the importance of awareness regarding current events in China. “What is happening in China today must be known, because they will want to do it not only in China, but all around the world.”
