We’ve all done it—grabbed a multivitamin, popped it in the morning, and hoped we were covered. But just because we take a vitamin doesn’t mean our bodies absorb or use it as we expect.

A University of California, San Francisco study on vitamin B12, critical for brain and nerve function, revealed a surprising problem. Even older adults with “normal” B12 levels showed cognitive decline, brain lesions, and slower processing speeds. Their bodies weren’t using B12 effectively.
